Webinar – Aqueous Colloidal Processing by Prof. Rodrigo Moreno/CSIC, Spain
Publicado em 22/03/2021 às 16:10MANUFACTURE OF NON-OXIDE CERAMICS WITH ENHANCED PROPERTIES BY AQUEOUS COLLOIDAL PROCESSING
Professor Institute of Ceramics & Glass, CSIC, Leader Synthesis & Colloidal Processing Group (ICV-CSIC); Madrid, Spain.
Abstract:
Colloidal processing has demonstrated to be a powerful route for the design and manufacture of ceramics and composites with complex shapes, uniform microstructures and enhanced properties. The ICV-CSIC started a pioneering activity on this topic 35 years ago, with the development of a specific methodology for the application of the colloid science and the principles of rheology in the manufacture of near-net shaped ceramics with uniform microstructures and the design of complex layered microarchitectures. This talk presents the fundamentals of the colloidal approach and shows several examples demonstrating the strong influence that a well-dispersed slurry has in the performance of non-oxide and ultra-high temperature ceramics, where a homogeneous distribution of phases and sintering aids has a key role in the development of high uniformity microstructures and therefore, enhanced thermomechanical properties.

5-minute Talks at MS&T 2021
Publicado em 28/02/2021 às 10:30The American Ceramic Society’s President’s Council of Student Advisors (PCSA) is providing an opportunity for undergraduate students, graduate students, young professionals, and established professors to discuss their research in just 5 short minutes at MS&T 2021 in the Research Lightning Talks Symposium again this year! Abstracts are being accepted now.
These presentations should focus on broad impacts and main challenges of the research, so they will allow the audience to see the wide impact materials research has on our society. This will be a fun, fast-paced symposium that lends itself well to learning about different types of research at a level that a general audience can understand. Presenters giving a longer talk in another symposium during the conference are encouraged to participate! Abstracts are due March 15th, 2021 at https://www.matscitech.org/MST21 !
If you are attending MS&T please consider submitting an abstract for this fun symposium or passing this information along to a colleague or student who may be interested in this opportunity!
